4 Reasons to Hire an ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist

Updated: Dec 30, 2022

If you want to work with the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals in the tree care industry, you'll need to find an ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist (ISA BCMA), and there aren't many of them out there.

To become a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), one must work in the tree care industry for at least three years. An additional 3-5 years of work as a Certified Arborist is required before the Master Arborist examination can even be attempted. To pass this exam and become an ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist, one must demonstrate a thorough expertise on all elements of arboriculture, including science, tree management and industry practices.

An ISA BCMA is a top-level tree care professional who is qualified to provide assistance with everything to do with trees. Here are a few great reasons to hire a Master Arborist.

Advantages of Working With an ISA BCMA

  1. Unrivaled Experience - Even a newly ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist will have a bare minimum of six years of full-time experience in tree care. A veteran ISA BCMA may have decades of experience! Since a Master Arborist must go through such rigorous training to be certified by the ISA Board, you can trust that the advice they give you regarding your trees will always be sound.

  2. Comprehensive Tree Care - An ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist will have experience with all aspects of tree care, allowing them to provide any service you need. From risk assessments to planting plans, they can do it all. Because Master Arborists have honed their comprehensive tree care skills in their years on the job, they're uniquely equipped to help you take the best possible care of your trees.

  3. In-Depth Tree Diagnosis - When your trees fall ill, the cause isn't always readily apparent, not even to an average arborist. But an ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist will be able to provide an accurate tree diagnosis, whatever the problem is. Master Arborists may have the necessary skills in order to determine what common pests, diseases and other issues afflict trees of a particular species or in a particular region, and they can use this advanced knowledge to nail down the root cause and recommend a plan to restore your sick trees' health or be able to research an issue to get an accurate answer.

  4. Knowledge of Tree Law - Quite a few situations involving trees can result in legal action. From suits over tree care injuries to tree appraisals for an estate, plenty of tree-related cases can wind up in court. If this happens, no one's better suited to take the stand as an unbiased expert witness than an ISA-Board Certified Master Arborist. Many ISA BCMA can provide the court with an accurate appraisal of tree value, advise on whether or not industry guidelines were followed when a tree care worker was injured, and more.
